Process Mapping

Process mapping in a business is the practice of visually representing the steps, activities, and workflows involved in a particular process within an organization. This visual representation, often in the form of a flowchart or diagram, outlines the sequence of actions, decisions, inputs, and outputs that occur from the start to the end of a process.

In our case, we used a process called brown paper mapping, which involves physically mapping out the process on large sheets of paper, allowing everyone involved to see the entire workflow at a glance. Through this approach, we identified several inefficiencies in our processes. One major issue we uncovered was the overwhelming number of emails sent per project, which was consuming a significant amount of time. To address this, we implemented a new communication strategy: we ensure that we first call to discuss key points and then follow up with a single email summarizing what was discussed. This change has dramatically reduced the volume of emails and saved us a huge amount of time.
