Why Unreal Engine
Over the last few years, I have noticed a trend in architectural software shifting to subscription models. While I understand that this approach makes revenue more predictable for these companies, I've also observed a noticeable decline in the quality improvements of newer versions. For example, one software I used to rely on now boasts about the number of new items added in the latest update. However, it still includes assets that are over 10 years old, which are essentially unusable and make it harder to find what you need. Their advertisement might claim 'We have 2,000 items,' but in reality, only about 300 are useful.
On the other hand, Unreal Engine is leading the way in innovation. With the release of UE5, they have revolutionized the quality of many presentation paths. The introduction of technologies like Nanite and Lumen has pushed the boundaries of what is possible. Just 2-3 years ago, achieving good lighting in VR scenes was a challenge; now, with Lumen, real-time lighting is within reach. Nanite allows you to use high-quality models without worrying about polygon counts. Unreal Engine is continuously innovating and upgrading, not just trying to lock users into a subscription. They want you to choose their product because it's the best.
Although there is a steep learning curve due to the software's power, it remains accessible to everyone thanks to its free availability if you are a large firm there maybe costs but for such powerful software even the paid version is a great price. (UE5 Pricing) This has resulted in a vast amount of online tutorials, both free and paid, along with very helpful forums. Whether you want to do basic renders by dropping in your models or use the in-engine Blueprint system to program more advanced features, Unreal Engine provides the tools you need.
